I'm back, and in better shape
I've just had a very good month in August, and amazed at where the time has gone. I went into a bit of a depression during April-July, however word got out that I was available for work and it slowly started to come in during July, with a day a week booking from an old friend, followed by another old friend who has lots of work for me.
August was therefore a bumper month, work wise, though the last week has taken its toll a bit in my energy, and the regular golf slipped a bit, so I'm making an extra effort to get some golf in before the weather turns too bad to play regularly and also the season ends.
I made a point of playing in every medal competition (about every 2 weeks) as a way to make sure I got out regularly.
I've just managed to combine a great offer of a free game of golf at a prestiguous course with an opportunity to get some more business. Though a friend of a friend I was invited to a taster day of a free round of golf. When I booked it, I was asked if there was anyone else I wanted to invite, so I invited one of my best customers from the past, as a thank-you, and to keep in touch, as well as someone I knew from my last job who I suspected would't have done anything about his website yet. I played this cool, and only invited him for golf, but did mention the place where I used to work, so he knew who I was. He immediately ask what I was doing and said that he hasn't done anything about his website, and hasn't committed to do anything with anyone else. So it looks like this might have the desired outcome.
I've just checked my credit score and it's "FAIR" at 783. I'm sure the last time I chedked it it was "Good", but I can't find the results at the moment. The report said too many agreements and the total balance was too high, which I already know I need to work on.
We've started clearing out some of the old office things that have been stored in a neighbours garage, so we'll sell some of these off, and aim to increase billable work, and keep on top of getting invoices out and money chased to come in.
We had 1 big bad debt of £16K, though I had pretty much written of £12K, I was expecting to get the other 4K, but the company has called in the receivers, so we won't see a penny. I don't feel as bad about it as I maybe would have otherwise if I hadn't been busy. There's nothing I can do now, but concentrate on not letting something like that happen again.
I'll update my current debt once I find the original spreadsheet. (I'm done a clean install of WIndows so it's not in my favourites anymore!!)
